This is a design tool that lets you create profiles; solve area characteristics and mass characteristics of solids created by extrusion and rotation of these profiles.
The design calculation module solves area characteristics of profiles. These are created with a simple graphics editor provided with the tool. This will also help solve mass characteristics of solids created by extrusion or rotation of the profile. This is an application based on MS Excel and is multilingual. You could use either of the standard units systems; metric or Imperial. Profiles could be created through the graphics editor built into the tool. This has a simple and easy to use interface. It is intuitive enough that most users should get familiar with it quite easily. Getting productive with it should not take much time. For a mechanical design engineer this tool should be really easy to use.
Once the profile has been created, the area characteristics you could calculate include calculation of (Ix, Sx) for main axes passing through the center of gravity; calculation of area characteristics (Ix, Sx) for randomly turned axes passing through the center of gravity and characteristics for the turned axes which pass through a random point. Calculation of volume and mass characteristics (V, m, Im) of solids created by extrusion or rotation of the profile is easily done too. This is a module of the MTCalc package that lets you do design calculations on a range of mechanical items that include gear, belt and chain drives, springs, beam, shaft, bolt connection, shaft connection, tolerances and many others.
